All of the DJs who work for Johnson Entertainment Company have a minimum of 5 years professional DJing experience, with most of our DJs having 10 or more years of professional DJing experience.
We only use top of the line professional DJ equipment.
always retain one DJ per weekend in each location as a backup in the event of an emergency.
Our DJs do take requests and may play some of them. Our DJs “filter” requests, meaning they will not play a song that you specifically asked the DJ not to play or music from a genre you asked the DJ not to play. If someone makes a request that fits in well with what the DJ is playing at the time and with the music the client wants, then the DJ may play the request.
You are able to pick which songs you definitely want to hear, and ones you do not want to hear, for your event. We have an online planning system which has in part, our music planner where you can make your song lists.
Sure, but we would like to get the music file(s) in advance of the event. If doing this please consider the audience attending your event.
The deposit is required at the time of booking and the remaining balance is due two weeks prior to the event date. Payments can be made through our online planning system using a debit or credit card or PayPal account.
We do not include gratuity in the final contract price. 10 – 20% is generally recommended if your DJ did a great job, but it is entirely up to you.
Yes, DJs are able to play past the contracted time only if they do not have a later event booked that evening or night (which is extremely rare). Each DJ is equipped with a card “swiper” to accept payment for overtime. Overtime rates vary by city, but your DJ will discuss overtime rates with you prior to your event.
A good time frame is at least six months before the event. However, we have DJs available for last minute events as well
This is not required in our contract and is completely up to you. Typically, the catering director or event coordinator will set aside a meal or boxed dinner for the DJ if requested by the client
We offer DJ services for weddings (ceremony and reception) and events in addition to lighting (Uplighting & Dance Floor Lighting). We also have PhotoBooths available through our partner companies.
You can select all of the songs you would like to hear, and ones you do not want to hear, during your event through our online planning system. Your login information for that system is included in the email with you contract. Some clients will give their DJ 50+ songs, some maybe 10, so it is up to you. We would like for you to at least give your DJ 10-15 songs of different genres and artists you would like to hear, as well as songs/artists you don’t, so your DJ has an idea of what music you’d like for the different parts of the event. We will play any kind of music you would like and will not play anything that is on your Do Not Play list. During your initial consultation, your DJ will ask about your music preferences.
We have a company Mixcloud page where some of our DJs post original mixes. We do not post any of our wedding or event mixes as each event we do is unique to that client.
